So, let me begin by apologizing for the absence. Between school, work...oh wait, you don't care about that, let's talk football already. So last week helped me to conclude ONE thing. This season is going to be a roller coaster. You saw some "elite" guys get shut down while their counter parts got all the looks (Fitzgeral/Breaston, Harrison/Hillis, MSW/Mike Thomas). All I have to say about that is, it has only been one week. If you haven't already made a bunch of hasty trades, give your guys a chance. There are some that I feel more confidently about than others, Fitz, MSW etc. I don't like whats going on in Cleveland. Of the two backs, I do like Hillis more, but only because he is made to score TDs. He won't get 100 yards, but expect to see him get a TD or two. He is a decent flex this week.
Now that the first week is over and we are all prepping for week two, I would love to break down every match up, but there just isn't the time or space here, so instead I will break down the guys that I would trust in my starting line-up this week. This won't be a small novel, but will mention the guys who you could be on the fence about (some of them anyway).
Eddie Royal - Ok, so I am a Bronco fan, and I would love to see Royal do well. He has the talent, and had the looks in week one, and I think he is a decent flex play at worst, and depending how he does this week, could eventually move as high as a WR2 spot. Just sayin...
Ray Rice/Anquan Boldin - I like Ray Rice in this match-up, and think he will bounce back for all of his disappointed owners after last week. Anquan Boldin and Joe Flacco have some serious chemistry goin on, and I think Boldin is establishing his role as the #1 guy in BAL quickly. I think I am one of the few that doesn't fully trust Flacco yet. Give him a few weeks to prove that he is on his way to elite status and then he starts for me.
Brandon Jackson - Maybe this is a give in, but I think he will have a decent game. They are playing Buffalo...not the most balanced team in the world, and I think he gives you between 9 and 13 points. Not bad for a week 1 waiver pick up.
Legedu Naanee - So maybe I like him because I drafted him this year late in the draft while some of my fellow league mates giggled and said "who the heck is that." Who is laughing now suckas! Ok, so maybe I am jumping the gun here, and Naanee had his only good game of the whole season last week, but I say we give him the benefit of the doubt. The job of WR1 seems up for grabs in SD with Jackson missing some serious time, and Floyd not performing incredibly well last week. This one is a long shot, and a flex play at best, but there are definitely worse risks out there...(if your curious, he had 17 points last week in standard scoring leagues).
Darren McFadden - I would love to see a statistic of how many people had this guy ridin' the pine last week. I am guessing he is owned in most leagues, but NO ONE trusts him...why? Because he has sucked the last few years. I say you give him another shot. They are playing the Rams, and if he is going to have another good game, this one sets him up for it. The Raiders have more weapons now that Campbell is behind the line, but don't forget...they are still the Raiders.
Steve Breaston - I don't think he will outscore Fitz this week, but did you see how many times Anderson looked in his direction? Ok, so it was only 7 compared to Fitz's 15, but do you know how many he caught? Yeah, thats right, all 7, for over 130 yards. Don't expect him to put up 15+ point games, but I think he is a great flex play!
Ok, real quick, here are some players I don't like this week. No explanation, just names.
REGGIE BUSH
All Dallas Running Back
Jahvid Best
Vince Young
Ocho Cinco
T.O.
Jerome Harrison
Pierre Thomas
Just to name a few.
Let me know your thoughts and concerns. Tell me why I am wrong (and I will tell you why you telling me I am wrong just means that you are wrong). And last but not least...GO BRONCOS.
