Heading into Week 3

So let me begin by eating some words.  Last week I didn't like Jahvid Best, and he scored 40 fantasy points...RIDICULOUS.  He showed his true colors, and from what I saw, the kid is legit.  Did you know that Jahvid Best not only got 17 carries, but that he also caught the ball 9 times for 154 yards and a TD?  Well, uh, yeah, he did.  And, I am proud to say I am on the band wagon.  I don't think he will score 40 points every week, but I think he is a great #2 RB, and will be a consistent 12-15 point guy at least, every week.

Ok, next issue.  Andy Reid states that Kolb will be back in the drivers seat for Philly, and then a "dayish" (technical term for around a day) later revokes that statement and names Vick the starting QB.  In all reality can you blame the guy?  Remember 2 weeks ago when Vick came in for the concussed Kolb and ran for a couple yards?  Oh wait, thats right, he ran for over 100.  He is a serious weapon.  He is quick, and has a lot to prove.  I think Kolb is good, but I think Vick has more upside in the world of fantasy, and also for the Eagles period.  If you got him, start him.

Moving right along.  Did anyone else notice that T.O. had 11 targets last week?  That is crazy.  Now he only caught five of them, but still, 11 is a lot of targets!  The Bengals have Carolina on tap this week, who have been awful against the pass.  I say if you've got him, he is a decent WR3/Flex option.  I bet you can count on him for 60 yards and a TD.  Just sayin...

Shonn Greene.  Who else is surprised at this kids lack luster performance?  It seems as though he is handing the job to LT.  I am sure the Jets are glad they grabbed LT in the off season, because lets face it, he is the only ray of light in their running game right now.  Shonn Greene better do something fast if he wants to stay on top in NY.  If you got him, I say start him, but only at a flex spot, in my humble opinion.

Antonio Gates.  Enough said.

Malcom Floyd vs. Legadu Naanee.  The technical term for this one is "Toss Up."  Yeah look it up.  This is going to be a week to week fantasy nail biter.  I think Floyd has more upside than Naanee, but lets face it, each of these guys has had a decent game, and a flop.  And in all reality, Antonio Gates is the go to in the red zone.  These guys are going to be decent flex options, and good bye week fill ins, but that is about it.  If you are using them, know that it is a gamble...

Ryan Matthews.  Ok I know this is a lot about SD from a Broncos fan, but I will get to the Bronocos in a second.  Matthews gets hurt, and Tolbert scores some TDs...big deal.  No seriously, I think it is a big deal.  I think Matthews value has gone down a hair.  Tolbert looked good, and it sounds like Turner likes the idea of these guys sharing goal line looks.  I think Matthews is still a solid #2 option, but no longer is  a #1, at least not if he is on my team.

Vincent Jackson...just kidding, at least until something new comes out.

Reggie Bush...Told you so.

Demaryius Thomas.  Ok, I have to admit I am a little smug with this guy.  He didn't get drafted in one of my leagues, and when I saw a report saying he was probable for Sundays game last week, I jumped on getting him off the free agency.  He sat on the bench because I wanted to see what he could do, and boy did he show up.  90+ yards receiving and a TD?  Pretty good for a rookies first NFL game.  Hold the phone though, they were playing Seattle, so lets make sure he is for real (I think he is).

Eddie Royal.  Again, a little smug.  I did draft him this year in spite of his poor preformance last season, and he has shown that he will be a good play most weeks.  Orton seems to be looking in his direction, and from what I have seen, he and Thomas will both be decent options.  Denver likes to throw, so that is good for any WR that play there.  GO BRONCOS.  (PS.  remember last season when the Broncos started the season 6-0.  Yeah me too, that was awesome.  Oh wait, no I can't hear you, I don't care what happened after that.  6-0...).

Peyton Hillis vs. Jerome Harrison.  I still like Hillis.  He is built for goal line work, and has out-performed Harrison thus far.  Remember last week when everyone was like "oh yeah, but he fumbled twice."  Big deal, Harrison fumbled this last game.  It is the lesser of two evils, they both play for the Browns.  I vote Hillis!

Vince Young/Chris Johnson.  I think last week was the worst they will play all season.  Look for both of these guys to bounce back in a big way this week against a weak NYG team...especially CJ.

Frank Gore.  It's about time.  Can I get an amen?

Matt Forte.  Welcome back to reality.  Still a solid option at the #2RB slot, but that is as high as I will go...for now.

Mike Sims Walker (MSW for future reference).  Yeah, I am on board with most.  He will be feast or famine.  There is just too much inconsistency there.

Jermichael Finley - So good.  Love this guy.  He does have Aaron Rodgers throwing it to him after all.  He caught for over 100 yards last week...and he is a Tight End.

Ahmad Bradshaw vs. Brandon Jacobs.  Really?  You need to know this one?  Bradshaw, all day, Bradshaw.  Still plays for the Giants who have some serious front line issues though.  So don't get too excited.

Ok, now that we are mostly caught up, I just want to mention some guys I don't like this week.  And with the exception of Best last week, my predictions were pretty good.  I am not giving explanations because I know half of you won't read them anyway.  If you want one, let me know, and I would be more than happy to give you my 2 cents on the issue.

REGGIE BUSH.
Brett Farve
Percy Harvin
BUF RBs & WRs, & QB...ok the whole team
Dwayne Bowe
Hakeem Nicks
Fred Taylor
Michael Turner
Jerome Harrison

Ok, that is enough for now.  Good luck this weekend.  Comment.  Let me know what you think!  Tell your FF friends to check this blog out!  Let's go GLOBAL.  Seriously though, tell your friends.

  1. i think Favre can be a sleeper this weekend. they are playing the Lions... this is his weekend to shine. if he doesnt... than this is going to be one of his worst seasons, if not the worst, of his career. Sidney Rice needs to recover faster.

  3. What about New Englands RB BenJarvis? He looks solid for NE cause Fred Taylor is old. I picked him up and Snelling (Turner is gonna get injured soon)... I dropped Mike Williams (SEA) cause Hasselbeck is horrible and Willis McGahee... well cause ray rice is BAL primary. I also have been running high on Darren McFadden, he is killing it while Michael Bush is out. And just as I bench Mike Wallace, Batch comes in and targets the hell out of him... Once big ben comes back Wallace is gonna be solid.... And I couldnt agree more about Shonn Greene, I was sold on him because of the Jets O-Line but he is a lame duck. I did trade Ronnie Brown and Brandon Jackson for Best... I think I scored on it cause B Jackson is horrible too. GB needs a RB bad..
