From the Beginning

In the beginning God created man.  Then a ton of other stuff happened and man created football.  I think the other stuff is important, but when August hits every year, I must admit it is difficult to follow anything that isn't directly related to Fantasy Football.  Recently I was watching T.V., ESPN to be precise, and I noticed one of the commercials they were featuring.  Long story short, the commercial reveals that EVERY NFL team (including my Broncos), is undefeated until games actually begin, and the same is true for all those hopeful Fantasy Football Managers out there.  Until next week, we are all on level playing field, that is unless you have already done your draft, and there is the one team in your league that everyone knows doesn't have a shot.  It is the same guy who you watched draft players, and shook your head in disbelief as he took guys way before he should have.
I am a few years into the whole Fantasy Football phenomenon, but I must say, it is more than a silly game, it is an art.  There is no two ways about it.  The time and preperation that goes into becoming one of the greats in your league is remarkable.  I think about all the times my wife has looked at me shaking her head for the amount of time I spend pouring over pre-draft rankings, and articles, and player bios.  Honestly, if you aren't someone who loves Fantasy Football, you can probably relate to my wife.  Shoot, even if you are someone who plays Fantasy Football, "but only for the fun of it," you too can probably relate to my wife.  But as for the rest of us, those of us who truly love the game, it is anything but a waste of time.  It is good managing.  It is being a fierce competitor.  It is for the love of the game.
This blog is a trial.  If people aren't into it, than it may become my personal fantasy football journal, or just an unused url address.  Either way, I hope you will check back and give your opinions.  I am not going to begin here with my pre-draft rankings, or even which players I am really high on this year  (You have all read enough of that at this point considering regular season games begin next week). Starting next week I will be discussing players, matchups, and all of the great stuff that comes with it.  I want this to be an open forum, somewhere for people to share thoughts.  I am in no way assuming I am the know-it-all on this subject, but I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts, and hearing what you all have to say.  I look forward to heated debates, and beautiful agreements.  Ladies and Gentlemen, lets get ready to rumble...Oh and tell your friends to check this out.

-For the love of the game.

  1. Andrew, I love this. You should seriously send the top 2 paragraphs to ESPN or Yahoo or something and see if they have anywhere they could post it. It's great writing and super true to us fantasy sports geeks.

    This will be fun.

  4. I'm not following this because I'm an idiot; rather, I am following it because FF interests me.
